    • PURPOSE: Traditional manufacturing process of organic thiol is dangerous by using Thiourea, which is a carcinogenic substance, and needs many devices such as incinerator for safety. CONSTITUTION: A thiol manufacturing process comprises reacting hydrogen with a thiocyanate or disulfide. In the reaction with thiocyanate is conducted under the present of a catalyst, containing a Group VIII metal or a mixture of this metal group. And in the reaction with thiocyanate or with disulfide is conducted in the presence of a catalyst, consisted of a Group VIII metal or mixture thereof, or under the condition that in the presence of catalyst, being on a porous insoluble support and comprising of a modifier metal selected from a group consisting of Group IB, Group IIB, Group IIIA, Group IVA, Group VA and Group VIA metal or mixture thereof.
