Image producers(14a,14b) produce an image having at least first portion and second portion. The first portion and second portion are different from each other. The first portion is processed additionally earlier than the second portion. An image processor(16) processes the first and second portion of the image. The image processor processes the first portion during the impossible use period of the second portion. The image processor displays the first and second portions. The image processor displays the first portion while the second portion is not offered to the image process by the image producers. The image producers produces the horizontal slices of the image as the first and second portions of the image.

    • PURPOSE: To form stereoscopic images for left and right eyes without requiring image quality regulation. CONSTITUTION: The imaging device comprises a shield plate 220 having two apertures disposed between an image sensor 110 and an object lens 210. Two apertures are fitted with polarizers arranged to polarize passing light linearly while intersecting the oscillatory places thereof perpendicularly. A liquid crystal plate 120 and a polarizing plate 125 for selection are disposed between the objective lens and the image sensor 110. The imaging device further comprises a shutter means for left eye taking any one of a state shielding the image light for left eye or a state passing the image light for left eye, and a shutter means for right eye performing a similar operation wherein the shutter means for left and right eyes are brought into passing state alternately by a control section 130 so that the image sensor picks up the image light for right and left eyes alternately thus obtaining a required stereoscopic image.
