    • PURPOSE: A scanner is provided to selectively drive a desired motor between the first drive motor and the second drive motor according to resolution and scan speed in which a scanner wants. CONSTITUTION: A scanner comprises the first drive motor(10), the second driver motor(20), a working unit(31) and a power delivery unit(140). The working unit is operated by one drive power between the first drive motor and the second driver motor. The power delivery unit transfers one driving force between the first drive motor and the second driver motor to the working unit. The power delivery unit blocks the drive power to be transferred to the other one of the first drive motor or the second drive motor. A swing gear(141) selectively interlinks the first drive motor and the working unit. The second swing gear(143) selectively interlinks the second driver motor and the working unit.

    • An image reading apparatus having a driving module is provided to accurately drive a light scanning carriage and a light reflecting carriage with a specific velocity ratio to prevent poor reading. An image reading apparatus includes an image sensor, a light scanning carriage(200), a light reflecting carriage(400), and a pair of driving modules(600). The image sensor is fixed to the main body of the image reading apparatus. The light scanning carriage scans light to read a document and reflects the light signal reading the document. The light reflecting carriage reflects the light inputted from the light scanning carriage to the image sensor. The driving modules drive the light scanning carriage and the light reflecting carriage at a 2:1 velocity ratio in a sub-scanning direction. Each driving module includes first and second fixed pulleys(620a,620b) arranged in the sub-scanning direction, first and second carriage pulleys(640a,640b) attached to the light reflecting carriage and located between the fixed pulleys, and a wire(610) sequentially winding the first carriage pulley, the second fixed pulley, the first fixed pulley and the second carriage pulley. Both ends of the wire are fixed to the main body of the image reading apparatus and a part of the wire is fixed to the light scanning carriage.

    • PURPOSE: A scanner for automatically detecting a scanned object and a scan method thereof are provided to cover a scanner cover and put the scanned object on a scan area without pressing a switch, thereby automatically scanning the scanned object. CONSTITUTION: A control unit moves an image sensor to a detection location(S2).
