The Interleaver initializes an index of the code bit and an index of the provisional output address(303). The interleaver decides an interleaving pattern according to a variable which represents uniformity(305). The interleaver generates a provisional output address(307). The interleaver confirms the validity of the provisional output address(309). The interleaver interleaves a bit to the provisional output address(311). The interleaver increases the index of the code bit and the index of the provisional output address one by one(313). The interleaver confirms the crystallization of the output address for interleaving all bits of a sub block(315).

    • An interleaved address generator using a convolutional turbo code, and a method thereof are provided to reduce a chip size and power consumption by implementing a calculation with an adder, a subtracter and a multiplexer without using a divider. An interleaved address generator includes an initial value register(50), an accumulation unit(100), and a first selector(600). The initial value register stores and outputs a first interleaving constant and second to fourth accumulator initial values which are calculated based on first to fourth interleaving constants and the frame length of input data. The first to fourth interleaving constants have a different value based on the frame length of input data. The accumulation unit receives the first interleaving constant and the second to fourth accumulator initial values. The accumulation unit has the first to fourth accumulators of the same shape which output each of the first to fourth interleaved addresses according to the frame length. The first selector selects and outputs one of the first to fourth interleaved addresses according to a lower 2-bit of the input data.

    • A method for encoding and decoding a turbo code with a continuous length is provided to implement ARP(Almost Regular Permutation) interleaving and/or parallel decoding with a continuous length through a basic interleaver for performing ARP interleaving for avoiding a specific RTZ(Return To Zero) sequence and interleaving for memorybank contention-free parallel decoding. A method for encoding and decoding a turbo code with a continuous length includes the steps of: generating a systematic sequence by inserting temporary bits into an original sequence(X); generating a first parity sequence by encoding the systematic sequence with a first encoder(302a); interleaving the systematic sequence; generating a second parity sequence by encoding the interleaved sequence with a second encoder(302c); and setting an index corresponding to added bits of the systematic sequence, the first parity sequence, and the second parity sequence due to the insertion of the temporary bits as a puncturing index and outputting the index except the puncturing index.
