    • PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for employing a common control channel and a broadcast channel in a broadband wireless communication system with frequency overlay are provided to make a CCCH transceiving apparatus and method support a common control channel with a divided structure and switched structure and to reduce the overhead by the common control channel. CONSTITUTION: If it is a transmission point of an n-numbered common control signal, a base station maps partial common control signals in common control channel 1 and 2 of different frequency assignment(501,503). The base station changes signals mapped in the common control channel 1 and 2 to OFDM(orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) symbols. The base station performs uplink conversion of an RF(Radio Frequency) band signal to an RF band signal. The base station transmits the transformed signals through an antenna. The base station transmits a downlink signal(505).
