    • PURPOSE: An ultrasonic inspector is provided to evaluate the soundness of a surface layer of an object to be inspected with high accuracy up to the end part of the object irrespective of the thickness, the bottom state, the inside state or the like of base material. CONSTITUTION: An ultrasonic inspector consists of an ultrasonic scanning part(10) having an ultrasonic probe(1) for two-dimensionally scanning ultrasonic waves on the surface of an object via an ultrasonic medium; a drive part(20) for the ultrasonic scanning part; and a computing/processing part(30) controlling the ultrasonic scanning part via the drive part and inspecting the defect of a film formed on the surface of base material as the object. Angle-beam incident waves exciting leakage surface acoustic waves are transmitted to the object from the ultrasonic probe. The leakage waves from the object are received by the ultrasonic probe. When the close contact property of the ultrasonic probe with the object is good, the reception level of the leakage waves becomes small. When the close contact property is bad, the reception level of the leakage waves becomes large. The computing/processing part evaluates the close contact degree of a sprayed film with the base material from the reception level of the leakage waves.
