    • PURPOSE: A beta-glucosidase protein is provided to enable efficient bioconversion of PPD type or PPT type ginsenoside into rare active ginsenoside, and bioconversion of baicalin into baicalein with high physiological activity. CONSTITUTION: A beta-glucosidase protein has an amino acid sequence of sequence number 1. A gene encoded the protein. A recombinant vector contains the gene. A transformant is prepared by transforming with the recombinant vector. A primer set for detecting beta-glucosidase contains primers with nucleic acid sequences of sequence numbers 3 and 4. A method for preparing beta-glucosidase comprises: a step of culturing the transformant; a step of preparing beta-glucosidase from the transformant; and a step of collecting beta-glucosidase. A composition for converting PPD type or PPT type ginsenoside into rare active ginsenoside contains beta-glucosidase, the transformant, or a culture thereof.
