    • PURPOSE: Provided is a novel adamantane tricarboxylic acid derivative which is improved in the solubility in various solvents, can form a polybenzazole layer having a high degree of crosslinking and is useful as an interlayer insulating layer having a high heat resistance and a low dielectric constant. CONSTITUTION: The adamantane tricarboxylic acid derivative is represented by the formula 1, wherein X is H or a hydrocarbon group; and R1, R2 and R3 are identical or different one another and represent a carboxyl or halogenated carboxyl group capable of being protected with a protecting group, and at least one of R1, R2 and R3 is a carboxyl or halogenated carboxyl group protected with a protecting group.
