    • PURPOSE: An automatic traverser and a control method thereof are provided to prevent damage to a bobbin due to winding pressure, thereby reusing the bobbin. CONSTITUTION: An automatic traverser comprises a traverse, input units(21,23,25), a PLC(Programmable Logic Controller,27), and a traverse servo motor(29). The traverse guides a drawn steel wire to be wound around a bobbin. The input units are to input the line speed, tension and displacement current of the wound steel wire and the winding height of the bobbin. The PLC receives the line speed, tension and displacement current of the wound steel wire and the winding height of the bobbin and outputs a control signal for regulating the range of movement of the traverse to make the winding diameter of both sides of the bobbin equal to that of the middle portion of the bobbin. The traverse servo motor is driven according to the control of the PLC to reciprocate the traverse within the controlled range of movement.
