    • An erosion preventive method of securing reliability in production and in use of an erosion susceptible portion of a target member, such as a turbine rotor blade (41), to thereby provide the portion with an erosion preventive function. An erosion preventive section with an upper and lower double layer structure is formed on the erosion susceptible portion of the target member (1), which portion is susceptible to erosion caused by liquid drops and solid particles in its use environment. To form such a structure, a lower layer (low-hardness layer)(2) of an austenite material and an upper layer (hard layer) having higher hardness than the lower layer and made of a hard material such as satellite are applied by laser build-up welding to such a portion of the target member (1). In the laser build-up welding, a laser beam is applied from a laser source (6) to the portion while the austenite material and the hard material are supplied in the form of a rod or powder by welding material supply means (5).
