    • An apparatus for performing a chip remove process and a basic body and a lock member for the apparatus are provided to fix a rotation direction of a cutting insert to minimize rotation of a cutting insert without intent. An apparatus for performing a chip remove process including a basic body(1), a cutting insert(5), and a connection surface(22). The cutting insert has a center axis(C1) and installs in an insert sheet(4) formed in the body. The connection surface has no rounding portion to fix the cutting insert with rotational direction. A lock member(24) includes a shoulder portion(29) which presses the connection surface without rounding portion. The lock member is inserted partially in a space(36) formed in the basic body. The space is opened toward the insert sheet. A upper portion of the cutting insert is supported by a lateral supporting surface(11). The space is located between the lateral supporting surface and a bottom surface(10) in order to fix a lower portion of the cutting insert by the lock member.

A fore-end without a spiral is sloped toward a guide face of the body. The cutting ring is coupled to the body by a screw and press-fit coupling.
