    • PURPOSE: A T1-T2 dual modal MRI contrast agent is provided to improve accuracy of MRI diagnosis and reduce diagnosis time and cost. CONSTITUTION: A T1-T2 dual modal MRI contrast agent contains a first layer having T1 contrast material, second layer containing T2 contrast material, and separating layer which suppresses interaction between the T1 and T2 contrast materials. The T1 contrast material is metal, ion, metal compound, metal complex compound or mixture structure thereof. The separating layer inorganic, organic, or mixture structure thereof. The T2 contrast material is metal, metal compound, metal alloy, or mixture structure thereof. The T1-T2 dual modal MRI contrast agent has sphere, stick, column, plate, layered structure, core-satellite structure, porous structure, host-guest structure or there variation structure.

    • PURPOSE: Nanoparticles with water-soluble multi-functional organic ligands coated on inorganic nanoparticle cores are provided to permeate blood-brain barrier effectively. CONSTITUTION: Nanoparticles are comprised of inorganic nanoparticle cores, and water-soluble multi-functional organic ligands which are coated on the surface of the inorganic nanoparticle cores. The nanoparticles can permeate the blood-brain barrier without the help of additional aiding agent. The inorganic nanoparticle cores represent: magnetic nanoparticles; optical nanoparticles; metal, alloy, metal chalcogen, or metal pnicogen nanoparticles; and multi-component nanoparticle cores including all of the nanoparticles.

A magnetic resonance imaging contrast agent comprises zinc-containing magnetic metal oxide nanoparticles, wherein the metal oxide is represented by the formula(a): MaOb and formula(b): McM'dOe, and the zinc-containing metal oxide is represented by the formula(c): ZnfMa-fOb or formula(d): ZngMc-gM'dOe, which are prepared by replacing the matrix metal of the metal oxide nano particle matrix with zinc or inserting zinc into a hole of the metal oxide nano particle matrix, in which a is 0-16; b is 0-8; c is 0-16; d is 0-16, e is 0-8; f is 0-8, f/(a-f) is 0-10; g is 0-8; g/{(c-g)+d} is 0-10; M is a magnetic metal atom or alloy thereof; M' is an element selected from Group I, Group II, Group XII, Group XIII, Group XIV, Group XV, transition metal element, lanthanide element and actinium element. A hydrodynamic diameter of fluid of the nanoparticles is 1nm to 500mum.
