    • PURPOSE: A composition containing an active fraction having inhibitory effect on adipocytes (NIH3T3-L1 cell) isolated from medicinal plants such as Agrimonia pilosa, Dianthus chinensis or the like is provided. The active fraction specifically shows inhibiting activity of obesity on a Lepr¬db/Lepr¬db mouse, as an animal model and is thus used as a therapeutic or preventing agent for obesity. CONSTITUTION: A composition contains an active fraction having inhibitory effect on adipocytes (NIH3T3-L1 cell) isolated from medicinal plants such as Agrimonia pilosa, Dianthus chinensis, Thuja orientalis and Pinelliae Rhizoma and additionally pharmaceutically acceptable carriers or excipients. One or more active fractions are obtained by extracting the herbal plants in a solvent such as purified water, C1-5 alcohols such as ethanol, methanol, propanol, butanol and ethanol or an organic solvent. The active component is administered in a range of 1 to 1,000mg/day per adult weight.
