A reciprocating compressor comprises a cylinder block, and a piston(24). The cylinder block linearly forms compression space.     • A discharge noise system of a hermetic compressor is provided to form a relative long connecting pipe to reduce pulses generated at the connecting pipe to improve operation characteristics of the hermetic compressor to reduce vibration, thereby improving the durability of the hermetic compressor. A first discharge muffler(39) is installed at a cylinder block(35) and reduces primarily noises and pulses of compressed working fluid discharging from a compression chamber(37) formed in the cylinder block. A second discharge muffler(39') is connected with the first discharge muffler and receives the working fluid from the first discharge muffler for reducing noises and pulses secondarily. A connecting pipe(43) connects the first discharge muffler with the second discharge muffler to form a passage where the working fluid moves, wherein the connecting pipe is more than 1.1 times and less than 1.5 times as long as the shortest straight distance between the discharge mufflers. A discharge pipe(45) is installed at the second discharge muffler and forms a passage for discharging the working fluid to the outside.
