    • PURPOSE: A recoil starter is provided to efficiently execute cooling of an engine by enabling induction of cooling air into the engine through an opening of the engine although enlarging the exterior dimension of a rope reel to reduce tractive load of a recoil rope. CONSTITUTION: A recoil starter comprises a case(1) including a reel shaft(2) arranged coaxially with a crankshaft of an engine to which a rotating member(9) is combined; a rope reel(4) rotatably supported to the reel shaft; a recoil spring(6) making the rope reel rotate in a winding direction of a recoil rope(3); a cam(7) rotatably supported to the reel shaft; and a damper spring(13) arranged between the rope reel and the cam. A drum part(4a) where the recoil rope is wound is formed to the outer periphery of the rope reel. The cam transmits rotation to the rotating member through a clutch mechanism. The damper spring transmits the rotation of the rope reel to the cam via elastic action. Annular recesses(11,12) are oppositely formed to joining surfaces of the rope reel and the cam. The damper spring is received in the annular recesses. Both ends of the damper spring are each maintained to the rope reel and the cam, and the rope reel and the cam are rotatably connected through the damper spring. The case includes a side wall to which an air inlet(18) for induction of cooling air of the engine is formed. The rope reel includes an annular boss part(4b) of the rope reel. The rope reel has an air passage(22) formed between the drum part and the boss part in a type opposite to the air inlet formed to the case.

    • PURPOSE: A recoil starter is provided to improve the durability by inhibiting excessive deformation of a damper spring and to receive the damper spring with high shock-absorbing and force-storing capabilities. CONSTITUTION: A recoil starter comprises a casing(1) having a reel shaft(5) formed on an inside thereof; a rope reel(4) rotatably mounted to the reel shaft and wound around with a recoil rope(2); a spiral spring(6) for rotationally supporting the rope reel in a direction of winding the recoil rope; a cam(8) rotatably mounted to the reel shaft to face the rope reel; a rotation member(9) attached to a crankshaft of an engine and provided with a ratchet mechanism(10) engaged to or separated from the cam; and a damper spring(14) in the form of a coil spring disposed around outer peripheries of bosses(19,20) formed on the rope reel and the cam, respectively. The opposite ends of the damper spring are held respectively on the rope reel and the cam. The recoil starter starts the engine by transmitting the rotational force of the rope reel to the cam by the resilience of the damper spring and a rotation of the cam to the rotation member by the ratchet mechanism.

    • PURPOSE: A recoil starter is provided to facilitate starting of an engine, to reduce the number of parts and the manufacturing cost, and to achieve miniaturization. CONSTITUTION: A recoil starter comprises a casing(1) having a reel shaft(2); a rope reel(4) rotatably supported to the reel shaft; a recoil spring(5) rotatably pressing the rope reel in the re-winding direction of a recoil rope(3); a cam(9) engaging with a driving pulley(6) connected with an engine through a clutch mechanism(7) to transmit rotation to the driving pulley; and a buffering accumulative force unit(12) arranged between the rope reel and the cam. A drum part(4a) on which the recoil rope is wound is formed to the outer periphery of the rope reel. The rotational force of the rope reel accumulated to the buffering accumulative force unit is transmitted to the driving pulley through the cam and the engine is started. A ratchet mechanism(14) is arranged between the rope reel and the cam. When the rope is rotated in the starting direction of the engine, the ratchet mechanism separates the rope reel and the cam. When the rope reel is rotated in the opposite direction of the starting direction of the engine by the rotational force accumulated to the recoil spring, the ratchet mechanism interconnects the rope reel and the cam and the cam is rotated reversely together with the rope reel.
