The clamping member is connected with an electric motor unit(27) by a toggle joint mechanism and an axially extendable thrust member. The thrust member includes nut screw mechanisms connected with the electric motor by a gear mechanism including a speed reducer(31) and a torque adapter(28). The electric motor unit includes first and second electric motors(29,30) placed parallel to each other on the facing surface of the thrust member.

A spring(35) pressurizes the clamping member to maintain the scraping head constantly in contact with the rear edge of the clamping member during the movement.

    • PURPOSE: A clamping device for work pieces is provided to control interference between the work piece and a gripping member with at least one griping member having a simple structure and high reliability and to easily fix the complicated work piece by controlling frictional force and backlashes and precisely moving the gripping member. CONSTITUTION: A clamping device for clamping and positioning a work piece comprises a box-shaped body(10) having a longitudinal axis; at least one gripping member(11) partially protruding from the front end of the box-shaped body and moving between an advanced non-operative position and a retracted operative position for restraining the work piece; and a control unit for moving the gripping member and having a thrust member(12) sliding with parallel to the longitudinal axis of the box-shaped body, wherein the gripping member is operatively connected to the thrust member by an articulated quadrilateral system and an intermediate toggle-lever mechanism(16). The articulated system comprises an L-shaped lever(19) pivotally supported by the box-shaped body to rotate according to a first pivotal axis(20). The L-shaped lever has a first arm(19') connected to the gripping member by a first articulation axis(21). A first connecting rod of the articulated system is formed by the first arm of the lever. A second connecting rod(23) is pivotally supported by the box-shaped body to rotate according to a second pivotal axis(24) and connected to the gripping member by a second articulation axis(25). The first and second connecting rods of the articulated system have different lengths. The pivotal axes or articulation axes of the first and second connecting rods are arranged in a plane passing through a reference line forming an angle with the longitudinal axis of the box-shaped body of the clamping device.
