    • An image display apparatus includes a display having data holding function, a vertical drive circuit sequentially and selectively scanning matrix form display elements, and a horizontal drive circuit writing a voltage among binary voltage preliminarily assigned depending upon the digital data of the image signal. The horizontal drive circuit and the vertical drive circuit are operated for performing selective scan of respective display element for at least m times in one frame period. The vertical drive circuit is constituted of n number of sequence circuits and logic operation circuits for outputs of the sequence circuits, where n is smaller than m, a period from inputting to the sequence circuit to outputting from the final stage being less than or equal to half of one frame period, and at least one of the sequence circuits being used with selectively inputting a plurality of inputs.

    • PURPOSE: To further reduce the occupancy area of a non-displaying region with respect to a display region. CONSTITUTION: Output lines X1 to X6 are connected to signal lines S1 to S6. Gradation voltage lines LV1 to LVn are arranged along a direction that is crossing the lines X1 to X6. Two switch driving lines D1-1 and D1-2 are arranged for every one gradation voltage line. Trigger lines Q1 to Q3 are arranged in parallel with the lines X1 to X6. Switch circuits SW are provided in the vicinity of crossing points of these lines. '1' data are outputted from a decoder 3, which inputs multi-level image data, into only one switch driving line and '0' data are outputted to other switch driving lines. Trigger pulses are successively outputted to the lines Q1 to Q3. '1' data are stored into the switch circuits connected to the switch driving lines having '1' data among the circuits SW. Gradation voltages from the gradation voltage lines connected to the switch circuits in which '1' data are stored are successively outputted to the lines S1 to S6 through the output lines.

    • PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display apparatus is provided to improve operating speed with a level converting circuit having small capacity transistor. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display apparatus comprises a signaling circuit driving pixels of displaying unit, and a level converting circuit founded on a scanning circuit. The level converting circuit is composed of a first to a fourth transistor. Gates of the first and the second transistors are coupled to a first bias voltage source. Gates of the third and the fourth transistors are coupled to a second bias voltage source, and sources of the transistors are coupled to a power supply voltage source. Drains of the first and the second transistors are coupled to the drains of the third and the fourth transistors. Low amplitude signals having different polarity are inputted to the sources of the first and the second transistors, and high amplitude signals having different polarity are obtained from the drains of the first and the second transistors.
