    • PURPOSE: An image display device is provided to reduce costs by generating a thin film electron source in each of sub pixels through the use of stripe electrodes which allow for ease of patterning, and processing an upper electrode by self-alignment. CONSTITUTION: An image display device comprises a display panel and a driver circuit. The display panel includes a cathode substrate(10) and a fluorescent screen substrate. The cathode substrate includes a thin film type electron source array having a lower electrode(11), an upper electrode(13), and an electron accelerating layer arranged between the lower electrode and the upper electrode. The thin film type electron source array emits electrons from the upper electrode by applying voltages between the lower electrode and the upper electrode. The fluorescent screen substrate has a fluorescent screen with phosphors which are excited by the electrons and emit light. The driver circuit drives the lower electrode and the upper electrode. One of the lower electrode and an upper bus electrode is a stripe type electrode in an image display region where the thin film type electron source array of the display panel is arranged in a matrix.

    • PURPOSE: A display device is provided to allow spacers to be easily attached to a substrate and increase strength of spacers by forming the spacers into a trapezoidal or checker structure. CONSTITUTION: A display device comprises a first substrate on which a plurality of electron emitting elements arranged into a matrix; a second substrate opposed to the first substrate, and which includes a phosphor pattern for receiving electron beams from the electron emitting elements and emitting light, and a metal thin film for accelerating the electron beams; and a plurality of spacers(300) interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate such that the spacer supports the first and second substrates. Each of the spacers includes a first plate type support(301a), and a second plate type support(301b) extended in the direction perpendicular to the first plate type support. The first plate type support and the second plate type support are bonded or assembled with each other, to thereby form spaces(303a to 303c) having rectangular cross sections parallel to the first or second substrate.
