    • PURPOSE: A variable displacement compressor is provided to improve the endurance of the seal member rotating around the rotation shaft. CONSTITUTION: A variable displacement compressor includes a housing, a rotation shaft, a bearing, a seal member, a shaft seal chamber, a discharge refrigerant path, and a partition. The housing has a crank case(4). The rotation shaft(7) is placed in the crank case so that one or both ends are exposed outside of the housing. The bearing is arranged within the housing and supports the rotation shaft to be rotatable. The seal member(10) is arranged within the housing at the location between the exposed end of the rotation shaft and the bearing in order to prevent the leakage of refrigerant mixed with lubricant. The shaft seal chamber(22) is segmented by the housing, the rotation shaft, the bearing, and the seal member. The discharge refrigerant path is formed within the rotation shaft to make a refrigerant move into the shaft seal chamber. The partition(21) divides the shaft seal chamber into first and second seal chambers(22A,22B).

The fixed unit is fixed to a surface of the base plate facing the compressive chamber. The base unit is extended from the fixed unit in a longitudinal direction of the inhalation lead valve. The valve flap selectively opens or closes the inhalation port. The width of the base unit is shorter than that of the valve flap.
