    • Provided is a shaft sealing device, which is enabled, because of no wear accompanying the movement of a sealing material or a sealing member, by a simple internal structure, to switch the sealing state and the unsealing state of a fluid while keeping a high sealing performance, thereby to feed a fluid of a predetermined flow rate, and which is enabled, by adjusting the expansion degree of the sealing material with the quantity of an external electric signal and accordingly the contact face pressure, to control the amount of leakage of the fluid highly precisely, so that it can be used for all applications. The shaft sealing device comprises a shaft sealing member (20) of a polymeric material made expansible/contractible and deformable through electric external stimulations and arranged in a shaft sealing portion (15) disposed in a body (10), and passages (13 and 14) disposed in the shaft sealing portion (15) for feeding the leakage fluid due to the expansion/contraction and deformation of the shaft sealing member (20).
