    • A fuel battery capable of stably supplying fuel to the fuel battery cells, improved in efficiency of power generation reaction, and excellent in output characteristic by preventing decrease of the internal pressure of the fuel container due to decrease of the liquid fuel during power generation and by ensuring substantial liquid feeding ability of the pump. The fuel battery (1) comprises a membrane-electrode assembly (2), a fuel supply mechanism (3), and an internal pressure adjusting mechanism (4). The membrane-electrode assembly (2) has a fuel electrode (13), an air electrode (16), and an electrolyte membrane (17) sandwiched between them. The fuel supply mechanism (3) has a fuel distribution mechanism (5) disposed near the fuel electrode (13) of the membrane/electrode assembly (2), a fuel containing unit (6), a passage (7) interconnecting them, and a pump (8) installed in the passage (7). The internal pressure adjusting mechanism (4) is used for introducing external air when the internal pressure of the fuel containing unit (6) decreases and is installed nearer to the fuel containing unit (6) than the pump (8) of the fuel supply mechanism (3).

    • A fuel cell small-sized and having enhanced reliability and safety that are achieved by improving, with the use of a simple structure, easiness of mounting of a socket section on the fuel cell as well as sealing ability for liquid fuel by the socket section. The fuel cell has the socket section (4) having a fuel path opened and closed in response to attachment and detachment of a nozzle of a fuel cartridge, a socket receiving section (5) in which the socket section (4) is received, a fuel receiving section connected to the socket receiving section (5) via a fuel supply path (9), and an electromotive section for generating electric power by using fuel supplied from the fuel receiving section. An elastic body (31) seals between the fuel path in the socket section (4) and the fuel supply path (9). The position of insertion of the socket section (4) into the socket receiving section (5) is determined such that pressing force of the socket section (4) to the elastic body (31) is appropriately controlled. The socket section (4) whose position of insertion into the socket receiving section (5) is restricted is fixed by a fixation section.
