    • Disclosed is a food sterilizing apparatus using non-thermal plasma generated by microwaves, and a food sterilizing method. According to an example of the disclosed invention, the food sterilizing apparatus using non-thermal plasma generated by microwaves comprises the followings: a sterilizing chamber for storing and discharging food which is a sterilizing object, including an internal space in a predetermined size; a vacuum formation unit forming a vacuum condition inside the sterilizing chamber; a gas supplying unit supplying reaction gas into the sterilizing chamber; a microwave supplying unit supplying the microwaves into the sterilizing chamber; and a controller controlling the vacuum pressure formation inside the sterilizing chamber using the vacuum formation unit, and the inflow of gas into the sterilizing chamber using the gas supplying unit. The microwaves perform a reaction with the reaction gas and generates the non-thermal plasma inside the sterilizing chamber. According to the example of the disclosed invention, large area plasma can be generated and compared to an existing method by the generation of the non-thermal plasma using the reaction of the microwaves and the reaction gas, the sterilization efficiency can be increased, and rapid sterilization can be possible.
