    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high frictional sliding material using a carbon nanotube which compatibly has high friction coefficient and high interface strength with a substrate, and also to provide a method of manufacturing the high frictional sliding material and a driving apparatus using the sliding material.
      SOLUTION: The high frictional sliding material includes the substrate, an adhesion layer for covering at least one main surface of the substrate, and the carbon nanotube standing upright relative to the main surface of the substrate. The carbon nanotube has a closed end and an open end. The closed end is buried in the adhesion layer and is fixed to the substrate, and the open end is exposed from the adhesion layer. In the method of manufacturing the high frictional sliding material, the material of the adhesion layer is coated on the substrate and dried to be a layer of a viscous body having a complex viscosity of 600-30,000 Pa s, the closed end is buried in the layer of the viscous body, and the layer is solidified to form the adhesion layer. In the driving apparatus, the high frictional sliding material is applied to the member to be driven and/or the driving member.
