    • PURPOSE:To perform the measurement of an azimuth with extremely high accuracy including the effect of level variation, by providing a means for outputting a lock position, which discriminates whether the quality of azimuth information stands practical use, as one corresponding to the exactitude of azimuth information. CONSTITUTION:The signal from a receiving circuit 1 is inputted to a reference signal detection circuit 2 and an envelope 3. The accuracy of the frequency multiplication of a multiplier circuit 4 is arbitrarily set with due regard to the digitalization accuracy of the envelope output of the envelope detection circuit 3 to be digitalized in an A/D converter 5, that is, azimuth accuracy to be measured. A Fourier conversion/input power calculation circuit 6 supplies the outputs of corresponding components to a 15Hz azimuth calculation circuit 7, an 135Hz azimuth calculation circuit 9 and power calculation circuits. 15Hz lock signal generation circuits 13, 14 appropriately process input signals from the 15Hz power calculation circuit 9 and the 135Hz power calculation circuit 10 to send out a 15Hz lock signal and an 135Hz lock signal. The accuracy of the above azimuth signal can be confirmed by these signals.

From these azimuth difference DELTAthetaH and propagation time difference DELTAtH, the azimuth angle thetaH+DELTAthetaH when the present position P2 is looked from the site PH and the distance RH+CDELTAtH (C: velocity of light) from the site PH to the present position P2 are obtained and the position coordinates of the present position P2 is calculated as a point present at a predetermined distance from the site PH in a predetermined azimuth.
