    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stationary constant velocity universal joint which is highly efficient with lower torque loss and less heat generation, excellent in durability, and capable of taking a high operating angle.SOLUTION: Track grooves 7 of an outside joint member 2 include first track groove parts 7a located on the corner side, and second track groove parts 7b located on the opening side. The first track groove parts each having a circular portion using a joint center O as a curvature center are inclined to an axis N-N of the joint in the peripheral direction, and the inclination directions of the first track groove parts adjacent to each other in the peripheral direction are opposite to each other. The second track groove parts each having a different shape from the first track groove part because of an increase in the effective track length are connected to the first track groove parts on the further opening side than the joint center O. Track grooves 9 of an inside joint member 3 are formed in mirror image symmetry to the track grooves of the outside joint member, pared therewith, on the basis of a joint center plane P in the state that an operating angle is 0°. Besides, onto the defined surfaces of the track grooves of the outside joint member, surface treatment is applied for reducing friction resistance to balls 4.

The retainer 50 is provided with thin parts 55 on the outer ring innermost side so as to avoid interference with the outer swelling parts 34.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixed constant velocity universal joint capable of forming a high operating angle, while producing low torque loss and less heat generation with high efficiency, and having excellent durability.SOLUTION: A track groove 7 of an outer joint member 2 comprises a first track groove part 7a located on the end side and a second track groove part 7b located on the opening side. The first track groove part 7a is formed into an arc with the center of curvature in a position offset on the opening side against the joint center and circumferentially slants against the axis N-N of the joint, and also the slant direction thereof is mutually oppositely formed in the circumferentially adjacent first track groove part 7a. The second track groove part 7b has a shape different from the first track groove part 7a in order to increase an effective track length to the maximum operation angle and is connected to the first track groove part 7a at a point closer to the opening side than the joint center O. The track groove 9 of an inner joint member 3 is mirror symmetrically formed to the track groove 7 that is the pair to the outer joint member 2 relative to a joint center plane P with an operating angle being 0°.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outside joint member for a constant-velocity universal joint and a fixed type constant-velocity universal joint in which both properties of statistic torsional strength and torsional fatigue strength of a mouth portion can be improved without generating a hardening crack in a hardened portion of a truck opening end, at low cost with no decrease involved in operational angle.
      SOLUTION: An outside joint member has a mouth portion 27 whose inner diametral surface is formed with a track groove 31 whose backside and opening side are formed into a circular-arc shaped portion 31a and a linear portion 31b, respectively. The mouth portion 27 is processed by a cold forging operation and an outer circumferential side of the mouth portion 27 is made to be 280Hv or more and 400Hv or less in hardness. A hardened layer H1 is formed in an inner surface of the track groove 31 of the mouth portion 27. The hardened layer is made to be 500 Hv or more and 780 Hv or less in hardness. A chamfer 44 is formed in the mouth portion 27. There is provided a tilted portion 45 which tilts from an opening edge of the track groove 31 to the opening side and further to an outer diametral side to reach an opening end surface of the mouth portion 27. Thickness of the hardened layer of an opening end in the track groove 31 is made to be 1 to 25% of that of mouth portion. Besides, thickness of the hardened layer in a portion corresponding to a boots mounted portion 40 is made to be 20 to 55% of that of mouth portion.
