    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for production of a bis(vinylphenyl) compound which is a resin monomer capable of forming a dielectric film suitable for electronic components.
      SOLUTION: This new production method comprises a first process for producing a bis(acetylphenyl) compound by acetylating a bisphenyl compound represented by Ph-R-Ph, a second process for producing a bis(1-hydroxyethylphenyl) compound by reacting the bis(acetylphenyl) compound with a metal hydride, a third process for producing a bis(1-halogenoethylphenyl) compound by reacting the resulting compound obtained through the second process with a halogenation agent, and a fourth process for producing the bis(vinylphenyl) compound represented by formula (1) (wherein, R is one selected from single bond, CH
      2 , S and SCH
      2 S) by reacting the resulting compound obtained through the third process with a strong base.
