    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems in a conventional chain-driven wheel drive device wherein since a drive chain is wound around sprockets installed at one end of an axle so that a rotating shaft is positioned coaxially with a wheel, the drive sprocket, the drive chain, and the driven sprocket are collectively disposed on one side of the wheel and, therefore, the appearance of the device is impaired and also a weight balance between right and left wheels is not good.
      SOLUTION: A power unit and the drive sprocket rotated by the power unit are disposed on or near the fork part of a fork, the drive chain driven by the drive sprocket is disposed so as to be circulatingly moved through the inside of the axle part of the wheel, and the driven sprocket co-rotated with the drive sprocket through the drive chain is installed on the axle part so that its rotating axis is positioned perpendicular to the rotating axis of the wheel. A bevel gear A is fixed to the shaft of the driven sprocket, and a bevel gear B meshing in pairs with the gear A perpendicular to each other is fixed to the hub of the wheel so as to be positioned on the same rotating axis as the hub so that the hub and the wheel can be co-rotated with each other by the rotation of the gear B.
