    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engraving tool for plastic in which the discharge of chips is easy with no chip sticking to a cutting blade, and accurate engraving can be performed continuously and smoothly.SOLUTION: The engraving tool is attached to a main shaft of an NC machine tool, and performs engraving on the surface of a plastic workpiece while rotating and shifting in 3-axes directions of XYZ. One side of a tip end of a tool body 2 is cut out in an L shape by a vertical cross section H along a rotational axis line G and a lateral cross section T which crosses it. A portion remaining at the other side of an L-shape cut-out part S is formed into a blade body K in almost semi-conical shape. The inside surface of the blade body K is a panning surface 3. At the periphery of the panning surface 3, a side edge that extends backward diagonally to one side from a tip end 4 of the blade body K positioned on the rotational axis line G is a cutting blade 5. At the outside of the cutting blade 5, an escape surface 6 is formed. A side edge 7 that extends backward diagonally to the opposite side forms a non-cutting edge by approaching the rotational axis line G than the cutting blade 5. The L-shape cut-out part S forms a space for discharging chips.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem with a conventional configuration for moving an engraving unit in a Y-axis direction having a system of rocking the engraving unit relative to the guide rail, wherein a depth of an engraved hole formed by the engraving unit decreases and a shape of the engraved hole changes from a true circle to an ellipse toward increase in a rocking angle, thereby a depth and a shape of an engraved hole become unstable and it becomes difficult to make good-looking letters and symbols.SOLUTION: An engraving device includes: a base 6 which moves in the X-axis direction; a slide member 13 which moves in the Y-axis direction relative to the base; and an engraving unit 3 attached to the slide member. With this configuration, engraving is performed by a constant engraving force while movement of the engraving unit in the Y-axis direction is horizontally carried out. Accordingly, an engraving pin 3g vertically works on an object to be engraved in all positions and it is possible to constantly engrave true holes.

A difference between the left opening angle and the right opening angle is set within one degree.
