    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder capable of excellently suppressing double feed by rotating a paper feed roller forwardly after once rotating the paper feed roller reversely even if a driving force is inputted only in a predetermined rotational direction, and an image forming device having the paper feeder. SOLUTION: When a paper feed instruction is received, a sector gear 81 starts its rotation clockwise from a home position indicated in (A). As indicated in (B), when a tooth 85 for reverse rotation is engaged with an idle gear 94, the driving force of the sector gear 81 is transmitted to a separation roller drive gear 62c via the idle gear 94, and the paper feed roller similarly rotated with respect to the separation roller drive gear 62c is rotated reversely. The engagement of the tooth 85 for reverse rotation with the idle gear 94 is soon completed, and as indicated in (C), when a second chipped gear 86 is engaged with the separation roller drive gear 62c, the paper feed roller is driven forwardly.
