    • PURPOSE:To obtain a sliding member which can be used under the dry frictional condition throughout a wide temperature range, by reforming the quality of surfaces of the basic sliding material obtained such that a heat resisting material made of expansive graphite and mica or asbestos is molded together with a reinforcing material of wire net or the like. CONSTITUTION:First at manufacture, a sheet shaped heat resisting material 1 made of either one or combination of at least two kinds out of the group of heat resisting material including expansive graphite, mica and asbestos, is molded so as to be integrally formed with a reinforcing material 2 consisting of stainless steel net, and a sliding basic material is prepared. Next, this basic material is wound into a whirlpool shape placing the heat resisting material 1 inside, and a cylindrical basic material 3 is formed. Thereafter, a sliding surface layer 8, in which a heat resisting sheet material 4, formed with a fiber of either one or at least two among those of asbestos, carbon not containing expansive graphite, and glass, is coated with a powdery solid lubricant composite 5 and piled onto a fine wire net 6 of copper alloy, is integrally combined with surfaces of said basic material 3, thus a required sliding member is obtained.
