    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for automatically swaging a surgical needle to a suture with rapid and high reliability. SOLUTION: In the method for automatically swaging a surgical needle to a suture, the suture corresponding to the needle is supplied to a pair of swaging dies one after another. The first swaging die in the pair of swaging dies is adjustably fixed. Next, the second swaging die is driven toward the adjustably fixed die to swage each needle to the corresponding suture one after another to form a needle-suture assembly. In addition, the every n-th needle-suture assembly is subjected to the tensile test to obtain the fracture value for the every n-th sample. Further, the fracture value of the every n-th sample is compared with the lower fracture threshold, and the first signal is generated if the fracture value of the every n-th sample does not reach the lower fracture threshold. In response to the first signal, the position of the adjustably fixed die is incrementally adjusted, and the adjustably fixed die is moved toward the second die by the incremental distance.
