    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a phase relation from becoming inappropriate at the time of switching from N-phase to 2N-phase.SOLUTION: A multi-phase clock generation circuit includes: a first frequency divider which synchronizes with a reference clock to generate an intermediate clock of 0° and 90° phases; a second frequency divider which synchronizes with the intermediate clock of 0° to generate an output clock of a first group of 0° and 90° phases; a third frequency divider which synchronizes with the intermediate clock of 90° to generate an output clock of a second group of 45° and 135° phases; and a selector which is provided between the first frequency divider and the third frequency divider, and supplies the third frequency divider with either the intermediate clock of 90° or a fixed value according to a switching signal. The circuit further includes an error detection circuit which, at the time when a switching signal is in a 2N phase mode, detects whether or not there is an error in the phase relation between the output clock of the first group and the output clock of the second group, and a re-reset circuit which outputs the switching signal of the 2N phase mode to the selector at the timing being asynchronous with the reference clock when the error detection circuit detects an error.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a high-definition and high-speed image sensor by outputting a plurality of pixel signals from the back of the image sensor by devising the arrangement and wiring of electronic circuits of a plurality of sensor modules each comprising a plurality of photo-detectors arrayed in a two-dimensional lattice shape. SOLUTION: At a sensor module 252, all photo-detectors 261 arrayed in a lattice shape and a charge coupled device 263 are created on different substrates, and the photo-detectors 261 and the charge coupled device 263 are connected via a charge transfer gate 262. A charge transfer driving device 264 supplies row selecting signals to all the charge transfer gates 262 via a row selecting signal line 265 and supplies a charge transfer signal to the charge coupled device 263 via a charge transfer signal line 266, and charges transferred from the photo-detectors 261 to the charge coupled device 263 are transferred to any one terminal in a bucket relay manner.
