    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a large number of optical signals free of frequency chirps collectively from a large number of direct modulation optical signals in an optical signal transmission device.SOLUTION: An optical signal transmission device comprises: a plurality of direct modulators which are driven by electrical signals on multiple channels to generate direct modulation optical signals for multiple channels; a first multiplexer which multiplexes the direct modulation optical signals for multiple channels; a subcarrier conversion unit which modulates the multiplexed direct modulation optical signals for multiple channels with beat light spaced at predetermined frequency intervals to generate optical subcarrier modulation signals for multiple channels; a demultiplexer which demultiplexes for each channel the optical subcarrier modulation signals for multiple channels; a plurality of probe light sources which generate probe light for multiple channels; a plurality of second multiplexers which multiplex the optical subcarrier modulation signals and probe light for each channel; and a plurality of nonlinear optical media which intermodulate the per-channel multiplexed optical subcarrier modulation signals and probe light before being transmitted.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser device which can generate intense pulse light.SOLUTION: A semiconductor laser device 6 of the present disclosure comprises: a semiconductor laser part 3 for generating a first pulse and a subsequent component of the first pulse by a gain switching operation utilizing a relaxing oscillation mechanism; and a filter 4 for removing, with respect to an output from the semiconductor laser part 3, a signal in a wavelength band generated due to at least the subsequent component among a wavelength band expanded by chirping. The filter 4 is constituted as a short-pass filter which transmits a short wavelength component. Further, nonlinear optical effect utilization equipment which utilizes the semiconductor laser device is provided.
