    • PURPOSE:To permit a discharge tube with simple structure to distribute ample light at the lower part and properly at the upper part by/bonding a deflection plate whose length and width are properly selected on a part of the inner surface of the discharge tube. CONSTITUTION:A deflection plate 7 which has almost the same length as the whole length of a dicharge tube 4 and whose width is approximately 1/4-3/4 of the inner diameter of the discharge tube 4 is bonded on a part of the inner surface of the discharge tube 4 with the use of inorganic bonding agent and glass solder etc. A phosphor 5 is applied on the inner surface of the discharge tube 4 and the deflection plate 7. Glass is desirable for the material of the deflection plate 7.

The drive circuit applies pulse voltage of 2.5-4.5 kV to the lamp on restarting.
