摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve shortening of a restarting time and instantaneous restarting, in a ceramic metal halide lamp illumination device wherein only a single easily lit light-emitting tube is lit from among a plurality of light-emitting tubes.SOLUTION: In the illumination device having a ceramic metal halide lamp and a drive circuit, the ceramic metal halide lamp is a lamp wherein a plurality of light-emitting tubes are provided within a single outer globe and only the single easily lit light-emitting tube is normally lit, and a translucent heat-screening member is arranged among the plurality of light-emitting tubes in order to suppress heat transmission from one light-emitting tube that is lit to the other light-emitting tubes that is not lit. The drive circuit applies pulse voltage of 2.5-4.5 kV to the lamp on restarting.

The flow path reduces the dispersal of the enclosed material from the internal tubes surrounding the light-emitting tubes into the outer globe if the enclosed material leaks from one of the light-emitting tubes, and also reduces the flow into the internal tube surrounding the other light-emitting tube of the enclosed material that has dispersed into the outer globe.
