    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove luminance unevenness present in a holographic reproduction image and extract information in the holographic reproduction image.SOLUTION: A sharpening process section 12 performs a process of suppressing blur of an image. Prior to reproduction of a hologram recording medium, a holographic image for calibration is generated using a same reproducing apparatus to obtain a blur function. A blurred image can be converted into an image without blur by passing the blurred image through a filter having a characteristic inverse of the blur function. A blur processing section 13 makes boundaries between pixels of a spatial modulator used for recording a holographic image unnoticeable. A threshold calculation section 14 calculates a threshold to be used at a binarizing section 15 for each line. At the binarizing section 15, the value of each pixel is binarized using the threshold calculated by the threshold calculating section 14. A post-process section 16 performs a fill-up process, for example, to eliminate black parts included in a white region of the binary image.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: in image formation using diffraction of light, brightness of an image differs because luminous energy in an image differs depending on the area of the image. SOLUTION: A signal generator 11 calculates a phase difference pattern for displaying an image 18 to be formed with a preset brightness such as the same brightness according to the use efficiency of light or the area of the image 18 to be formed. The phase difference pattern generated by the signal generator 11 is supplied as a signal according to the image to be formed on a liquid crystal display device 13, whereas the pattern is supplied to a light source power supply 14 to vary the luminous energy of a light source 15 comprising a semiconductor laser. Thereby, the image 18 to be formed shows the set brightness such as the same brightness without depending on the type of the image and gives natural appearance to human eyes.
