    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas laser container operated by using an asymmetric composite planar waveguide resonator, which generates a circular pseudo diffraction limit beam, without requiring additional external correction. SOLUTION: As an asymmetric composite planar waveguide resonator, a resonator mirror which has the minimum curvature radius 182 and a resonator mirror 192 which has the greatest curvature radius are provided. Adjacent to the mirror 192, a third mirror 212, which is processed on a surface facing electric discharge and has a spherical concave face curvature radius, is provided. The angle of the third mirror 212 is an angle for taking out an output from a laser resonator slanted to an optical axis of a laser resonator O. An output beam 222 is returned along a portion adjoining to gas discharge parallel to the optical axis of the laser resonator O, and at this time this portion of the discharge 232 functions as additional waveguide strip, and a spatial filter 242 is arranged just after an exit opening of the additional waveguide strip 232.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source system, optical scanner, a method of controlling light quantity and a method of scanning light in which a luminous flux from a light source is used for an optical scanning at a high utility efficiency, and to provide an image forming apparatus and a method of forming an image with which a high speed and high density writing-in is performed. SOLUTION: The light source system has: a dividing means which divides the luminous flux from the light source at least into a luminous flux FM and a luminous flux FS; and a detection optical system which guides the divided luminous flux FM to a detection means, wherein the light component in the vicinity of the point at which the intensity of a luminous flux FO reaches a peak value in a cross section perpendicular to the propagation direction of the luminous flux FO is not included in the luminous flux FM but included only in the luminous flux FS, the luminous flux becomes a substantial circle or an ellipsoid and the intensity at the substantially central part has a peak value. The light at the peak part is supplied outward and the light at the other part is detected for controlling the light quantity, thus the light quantity is controlled and the light is efficiently supplied outward.
