    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of measuring an ocean wave using an ultrasonic wave capable of precisely performing the measurement even when the ocean wave is high. SOLUTION: In the method, an ultrasonic wave is transmitted into the sea from an ultrasonic transducer 2 provided beneath the sea level at a buoy 1 moored on the sea surface, ultrasonic waves from three transponders 3 arranged beneath the sea level below the buoy, together with time signals, are received, the distance between each transponder and the ultrasonic transmitting and receiving device is detected on the basis of the one-way propagation time until the ultrasonic wave transmitted from the transponder is received, a high-pass filter processing is applied to the distance data to extract short-period variation components, a three-variable linear equation is prepared for each sound wave relay device so that an equation having as an unknown the displacement of three-dimensional coordinates of the ultrasonic transmitting and receiving device and having as coefficients the azimuth and depression angles of the ultrasonic transmitting and receiving device relative to the transponder is coincident with the extracted short-period variation components, and the three-variable simultaneous linear equations are solved to obtain at least the displacement in the height direction of the short-period variation components, thereby obtaining the height of the ocean wave.     • PURPOSE:To obtain a wireless tide level telemter, wherein the signal of a tide level gage, which is provided in an automatic tide level gate station at a specified position, is transduced into a sound wave, the transmitted sound wave is emitted by a radio and received by a working ship at a point on the sea which is separated from the automatic tide level gage station, and the tide level is indicated through the sound wave. CONSTITUTION:A tide level gage 2 comprising a tide level detector 3 and a tide level transducer 4 is provided in an automatic tide gage station 1 at a specified position. The tide level signal, which is detected by the detector 3 is transduced into an electric signal by the transducer 4 and applied to a tide level to sound wave transducer 5. The sound wave signal from the transducer 5 is transmitted by a sound wave transmitted at every time which is specified by a transmitting time setting device 6. The transmitted wave is received by a microphone 9 and emitted by a simplified radio 8 and a transmission antenna 10. A receiving antenna 11 and a simplified radio 13 on a working ship 11 at a position on the sea, which is separated from the automatic tide level station 1, receives the radio wave emitted by the antenna 10 and transmits the signal corresponding to the tide level from a speaker 14. The sound received by a sound wave receiver 16 is displayed by a tide level display part 17 through a tide level transducer 15 and recorded by a tide level recording part 18.
