    • An implantable rotary sealless blood pump (11) is provided. The pump (11) includes a housing (12) having an inlet tube (13) on one end and an impeller casing (14) on the other end. A rotor (17) is mounted for rotation within the housing (12), with the rotor (17) having an elongated shaft portion (18) and an impeller (19) attached to the shaft portion (18). The impeller (19) is located within the impeller casing (14). Radial magnetic bearings (28,29) are carried by the shaft portion (18) and radial magnetic bearings (23,24) are carried by the housing (12) for maintaining the shaft portion (18) of the rotor (17) within the inlet tube (13) of the housing (12). A rotor motor (53) includes a plurality of permanent magnets (54) carried by the impeller (19) and a motor stator (56) including an electrically conductive coil (57) located within the housing (12). A ring of back iron (58) is carried by the impeller casing (14) to aid in completing a flux return path for the permanent magnets (54). A plurality of hydrodynamic thrust bearings are located outside of the axis of rotation of the rotor (17). The impeller (19) uses large axially thick blade sectors (49) with narrow blood channels (51) extending through the impeller (19), to minimize hemolysis and to increase the working surface of the blades (49).

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shaft support device for vacuum pump, which satisfies particularly contradictory requirements of oscillating probability and resisting probability of a low vacuum-side rolling bearing. SOLUTION: This shaft support device for vacuum pump comprises a housing, a first bearing generating a force in the axial direction and having axial rigidity, a second bearing formed as a rolling bearing and disposed within a holder having axial and radial rigidity. In order to avoid loss of oscillating probability of the second bearing in application of a high axial force to the bearing, the holder includes a shaking table and a fixed part. The shaking table is connected to the fixed part retained within the housing through a metal connecting element allowing axial and radial motions of the shaking table, the rigidity of the holder is made larger in the axial direction than in the radial direction by an axial spring disposed between the shaking table and the fixed part, and this axial rigidity of the holder is larger than the axial rigidity of the first bearing.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor fan in which the rotor will not move vertically downward, even if the motor fan is used, while being fixed facing down, and preventing shortening of its lifetime due to abnormal contact of the rotary shaft with the inner circumferential wall of a bearing hole.
      SOLUTION: The motor fan 1 comprises a base section 2, a bearing section 11, a stator 13 having a core 15 and a coil 16, a rotor 4 having a rotary shaft 20 and a cylindrical magnet 22, an air supply blade 5, and a rotor position detector 23 disposed on the base section 2 side of the cylindrical magnet 22, through a predetermined gap to the cylindrical magnet 22. The motor fan 1 is further provided with a thin part 24, where the effective thickness at one end part of the cylindrical magnet 22 on the rotor position detector 23 side is set thinner than the effective thickness at the other end part.
