    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage to components during assembling for a wheel to a vehicle body by improving work efficiency in assembling.SOLUTION: A bearing device for a wheel includes a bearing 20 for a wheel, which comprises: an outer ring 5 having double-row outer raceway surfaces 13, 14 formed on an inner periphery thereof; a hub ring 1 and an inner ring 2 having double-row inner raceway surfaces 7, 8 formed on outer peripheries thereof and facing the outer raceway surfaces; and double-row rolling elements 3, 4 disposed between the outer raceway surfaces of the outer ring and the inner raceway surfaces of the hub ring and of the inner ring. A stem part 30 of an outer joint member 24 of a constant velocity universal joint 6 is fitted to the inner diameter of the hub ring to join the constant velocity universal joint in a separable manner to the bearing for a wheel by means of a screw fastening structure. A plurality of projections 37, which are formed on the stem part of the outer joint member and which extend in the axial direction, are press-fitted in the hub ring in which a plurality of recesses 39 are formed, the recesses having a fastening allowance only relative to the circumferential sidewalls of the projections. As the shape of only the circumferential sidewalls of the projections is transferred to the hub ring, a projection-recess fitting structure is constituted, in which all of the fitting contact parts between the projections and the recesses are in a close contact state.

The shaft hole 38 of the hub ring 1 penetrates cylindrically in an axial direction, a plurality of recessed parts 39 having a fastening margin for a projection part 37 of the stem part 30 of the outer joint member 24 are formed in the shaft hole 38 of the hub ring 1 by broach processing, and the stem part 30 of the outer joint member 24 is pressed in the shaft hole of the hub ring 1 to transfer the shape of the projection part 37, thereby constituting a recess/projection fitting structure such that fitting contact regions of the projection part 37 and recessed part 39 are entirely in contact with each other.
