    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine starting device including a manually-operated primary pump, delivering an appropriate quantity of starting fuel through a simple operation and obtaining satisfactory engine starting performance.SOLUTION: The starting device includes: the manually-operated primary pump 8 arranged on a fuel introduction path 10a connected to the middle of a fuel-feeding path for sucking and pressure-feeding fuel; and a fixed-quantity fuel chamber 5A for temporarily storing the fuel delivered from the primary pump 8, and supplies a fixed quantity of starting fuel from the fixed-quantity fuel chamber 5A to an intake passage during engine starting. The fixed-quantity fuel chamber 5A has a part of the internal wall displaced elastically to allow the internal capacity to expand and contract within a predetermined range, and is connected to a fuel delivery path 11a that has a manually-operated on-off valve 4a and communicates with the intake passage side. The on-off valve 4a is manually opened in a state that the fixed-quantity fuel chamber 5A expands the internal capacity through the operation of the primary pump 8 and is filled with a predetermined quantity of starting fuel, and thereby the fixed-quantity fuel chamber 5A contracts by elastic contractile force and discharges the fixed quantity of starting fuel.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carburetor having an auxiliary fuel/air supplying device, wherein the carburetor can be automatically operated to open and close the conduit of the auxiliary fuel/air supplying device, and does not require the manual operation of a control valve for this purpose.
      SOLUTION: The carburetor comprises a fuel/air mixing passage having a throttle valve, a hole having a valve which partially defines a valve drive chamber, and a divided fuel/air mixing chamber which communicates with the fuel/air mixing passage at the position located on the downstream side of the throttle valve. A fuel passage and an air passage communicate with the fuel/air mixing chamber. A purge device communicates with the valve drive chamber, and can be operated to move the valve to the opened position in order to open the fuel/air passage toward the fuel/air mixing chamber. As a result, the fuel/air mixture flows from the fuel/air mixing chamber into the fuel/air mixing passage located on the downstream side of the throttle valve.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diaphragm type carburetor equipped with a pressure regulation means and stably supplying fuel to an engine without incurring excessive leaning of a mixture and destabilization of fuel pressure.
      SOLUTION: The diaphragm type carburetor 1 comprises a fuel pump 21 having driving force of pulsating pressure generated in a crank chamber or an intake pipe of the engine and a constant fuel chamber 7 having a diaphragm 6 and a lever mechanism for maintaining a required fuel pressure. The carburetor is equipped with an air-bubble discharge path 41, which connects the constant fuel chamber 7 and a predetermined discharge portion other than a fuel metering passage and has check valves 41a, 41b on an inlet side and an outlet side, and with an air-bubble removal pump 40A which is connected to the air-bubble discharge path 41, allows air bubbles to be sucked from the constant fuel chamber 7 into the air-bubble discharge path 41 in conjunction with close or open operation of a throttle shaft 50A by an operator and allows the sucked air bubbles to be discharged to the discharge portion in conjunction with the open or close operation of the throttle shaft 50A.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple, economical long life recoil starter facilitating engine start by automatically removing fuel vapor and stale liquid fuel from carburetor when a cord is pulled.
      SOLUTION: A recoil starter for an internal combustion engine has a housing with a pulley carried at least in part for rotation therein. The pulley is arranged in operable communication with a crankshaft of the engine. A pull cord is wound about the pulley with one end of the cord being arranged to be pulled by a user to rotate the pulley. An actuator is carried for rotation in response to rotation of the pulley. A pump is arranged for actuation in response to rotation of the actuator to provide fresh liquid fuel to a carburetor and remove fuel vapor and stale fuel from the carburetor and deliver it to a fuel tank prior to starting the engine.

      SOLUTION: A flow rate control mechanism 21 is provided to a low speed system 12 independent from a main system 8. In the mechanism 21, a valve element 24 is linearly reciprocated with a cam 32 provided to a throttle valve shaft 6. The effective area of a low speed fuel passage 16 is increased to main fuel injection timing in accordance with increase in opening from an idle position of the throttle valve. After that, the area is decreased to be made zero at high output area. By so doing, the fuel flow rate in a high pressure area is stabilized and high output is materialized while the connection from low speed fuel to main fuel is made smooth.
