    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein since an operating angle and a central angle are changed at individual response speeds during re-acceleration from deceleration, interference might occur between a piston and an intake valve and if the response speed of the operating angle is restricted to avoid the interference, built-up of torque is deteriorated. SOLUTION: During deceleration when an accelerator is fully closed, the operating angle and the central angle estimated during re-acceleration are determined, and it is determined whether or not a minimum clearance between the piston and the intake valve is kept exceeding a tolerance during transfer from a current first target value step-by-step. When the minimum clearance is lower than the tolerance, a second target value having the same torque as that of the current first target value and a central angle on the timing delay side is determined and switching to the second target value is performed beforehand. At this time, no torque fluctuation occurs.
