    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition powder containing an Mg/Al alloy or an Mg/Al-based alloy as a fuel component, a perchlorate such as potassium perchlorate as an oxidizing agent and a silicone resin as a resin binder which has reduced friction sensitivity thereby has improved handling property in mass production, and to provide an initiator having the ignition powder, a gas generator equipped with the initiator, and an air bag unit and a seat belt unit, each having the gas generator. SOLUTION: The ignition powder contains powder of the Mg/Al alloy and/or the Mg/Al-based alloy containing 20-70 wt.% Mg as the fuel component and contains the perchlorate and potassium nitrate as the oxidizing agent. The initiator is loaded with the ignition powder. The gas generator is provided with the initiator. A mechanical energy sensitivity such as the friction sensitivity is reduced by substituting the potassium nitrate for a part of the perchlorate without deteriorating the igniting performance of original property of the ignition powder.
