    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a carbon anode in which calcined petroleum coke of low quality can be used for a raw material of the carbon electrode, and the carbon anode of small coefficient of thermal expansion and high quality is obtained. SOLUTION: The method for producing the carbon anode for aluminum refining includes an ashless coal producing step of producing an ashless coal which is improved coal by improving coal quality using solvent, a carbonizing step of forming ashless coal coke by carbonizing the ashless coal, a carbon material producing step of producing the carbon material by mixing the ashless coal coke with calcined petroleum coke obtained by calcining raw petroleum coke, and a carbon anode producing step of producing the carbon anode by heating the carbon material.
