    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure strong joining strength with a simple structure.SOLUTION: An air bag cover body part 141 includes: a plate-shaped opening portion 141a; a flat portion FT provided to at least a region further on an inner peripheral side than the opening portion 141a; and a plurality of welding auxiliary ribs 18a-18g projecting from a region on an outer peripheral side than the opening portion 141a so as to maintain flatness of a surface in the opening portion 141. A frame-shaped body 142 includes: a flap portion 146, which tears and deploys by pressure imparted by an inflation load; ribs 24, 27, 32 to be welded that are provided at least in the flap portion 146 so as to face the flat portion FT; and a plurality of auxiliary ribs 30a-30g to be welded. In a state that the ribs to be welded 24, 27, 32 and the flat portion FT are made to abut on each other and that the auxiliary ribs 30a-30g to be welded and the welding auxiliary ribs 18a-18g are made to abut on each other, they are joined with each other by vibration welding.

    • The airbag cover for covering an airbag for a front passenger seat provided in a vehicle is effective for smoothly splitting the airbag cover along a tear line when the passenger airbag is deployed and inflated in case of a traffic accident. The airbag cover 140 of an airbag apparatus 100 includes a first region 148 having a relatively small number of welded ribs 147 per unit area, the welded ribs 147 connecting an openable portion 141a and a flap portion 146 of a deployment door 160 by welding. The deployment door 160 is bent such that the first region 148 with a relatively small flexural rigidity protrudes toward the front passenger. Accordingly, the deployment door 160 is split along the tear line 150 due to a tension load that is applied to an outer edge of the deployment door 160 toward the first region 148.

    • An airbag apparatus utilizes an interior panel of a vehicle. The interior panel has a rectangular fracture-opening section defined by at least one hinge groove and one fracture groove formed on an inside surface of the interior panel through irradiation with laser pulses. The fracture groove includes bridge portions and continuous hole portions provided alternately. Each of the bridge portions includes no laser-formed hole and has a thickness equal to the interior panel. Each of the continuous hole portions is composed of first holes for fracture which have a first depth and are successively formed between adjacent bridge portions through irradiation with laser pulses, and second holes which have a second depth smaller than the first depth and are each formed between adjacent first holes, through irradiation with laser pulses, so as to remove an original-thickness portion between the adjacent first holes.
