    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machining technique for easily improving the accuracy of the inside diameter, surface roughness and coaxiality of the inner surface of a cylinder.SOLUTION: A method for machining the inner surface of the cylinder comprises the steps of: preparing a boring tool 10 constituted in such a way that two or more rows of grindstones 13, on each of which single-layer abrasive grains 21 are arrayed and disposed, are arranged at almost equal pitches in the peripheral direction of a cylindrical tool holder 11; and performing the grinding by advancing the boring tool 10 toward the cylindrical inner surface 15 of an object 14 to be ground. Since the grindstones are arranged at almost equal pitches in the peripheral direction of the cylindrical tool holder, force is exerted on the tool holder in a well-balanced manner from the peripheral direction to the axial center, so that the cylindrical inner surface can be ground in the well-balanced manner without warping the tool holder and the machining accuracy can be improved easily.

As not constrained force or load acts on the grinding tool, the life can be prolonged.
