    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tap position sensor for detecting offset, compact-sized and easily integrated with a tool platen under a tapping tool. SOLUTION: In the integrated tapping tool, a part shaped like a strip 6 is held on a strip support 4 with a hole 7 facing to a tap 14 carried by the tapping tool 11. The bottom dead center of the tap 14 is detected by a sensor 15 revolved around a lateral shaft 22 and associated with a universal tool lever 19 pulled by a transmission cable 17, the free end of which is detected by a position detecting means 18. In this system, the position detecting means 18 may be moved to the outside of the tool platen 1 to construct an assembly in which a plunger 23 and the universal tool lever 19 are easily integrated with the lower part of the tapping area.     • PURPOSE:To minimize the time for tapping by controlling the stop period of shaft feed from tap advance to retraction, and by setting the spindle at the optimum number of revolutions for proposed processing. CONSTITUTION:If such specifications as number of revolutions of spindle, the speed of shaft feed, etc. are determined on the basis of material, heat treatment of the work to be processed, and screw dia. etc. and placed into a control device, it actuates a variable timer to set automatically the stop period DELTAt of shaft feed in transition from advance to retraction, that corresponds to the period of time from spindle rotating in regular direction to reverse. The machine is fed with such information as this set period of time DELTAt or the command for tapping, and now processing is commenced. Accordingly the spindle can be given the optimum number of revolutions, and the processing completed in the shortest time.

    • PURPOSE:To quicken tapping work, by mounting many tapping heads on a turret to make various tapped holes by a single machine. CONSTITUTION:A servomotor 15 is rotated to turn a turret 8 so that a tapping head 7 appropriate to a preparatory hole made in a plate W is placed in front. The turret 8 is secured by an indexing pin unit 21. The plate W is held down by a plate pusher 44. An air cylinder 37 is expanded by one stage. A gear 29 is engaged with a gear 35 for driving the tapping head 7. A motor 33 is driven to turn the rotary shaft 24 of the tapping head through the gear 35 to rotate a tap 41 to cut a prescribed screw in the preparatory hole.
