    • PURPOSE: To enable adequate cutting under heavy load, by conjoining to the tip of a rotary tool a three-layer sintered element made by bonding a high-hardnesses sintered plate between two cermet plates.
      CONSTITUTION: A sintered piece 1 containing boron nitride at high density is sintered between two cermet plates 8, 9 so that they are conjoined together. When the three-layer sintered element is utilized as the tip of a drill, the sintered element is brazed with silver solder in the groove of the cutting part of the drill so that the cermets 8, 9 are located symmetrically to each other with regard to the rotation. The cermets 8, 9 of the sintered element tip are partly removed to provide rake faces on the drill. According to this constitution, load is reduced by half in comparison with a conventional tool with two tips separately brazed. For that reason, cutting under heavy load is enabled.
