    • PURPOSE: To make possible the roll speed ratio to be continuously varied, to facilitate the operation, and to rduce the installation cost, in the driving unit for the differential speed mill, by arranging the rotor or the stator of the variable speed motor so as to be interlocked to the stationary motor.
      CONSTITUTION: The upper work roll 1 is connected to the output shaft 6 of the well known stepless variable speed driving motor 5 through the shaft 3; the lower work roll 2 is connected to the stationary driving motor 11 through the shaft 4; and the stator 7 (or the rotor) of the motor 5 is connected to the motor 11 through the bed 8 and the engaged gears 9, 10. At the rolling work, the driving motors 5, 11, are started, and then, the roll 2 rotates at the same number of rotation as the motor 11; and the number of rotation of the roll 1 is determined from the number of rotation of the output shaft itself of the motor 5 and the number of rotation of the stator 7 being rotated through gears 10, 9; hereby, the differential speed rolling work is carried out. According to this method, the speed ratio of the rolls can be continuously varied, the operation is facilitated, the installation capacity of the driving motors, etc., can be lessened by reason stated in separate paragraph, and the installation cost can be reduced.
