    • PURPOSE:To discharge soot adhered to and accumulated on the inside of the heat exchanger by removing it automatically and prevent the deterioration of heat exchanging efficiency by a method wherein a multitude of floating bodies, formed with protuberances on the outer surface thereof, is accommodated in an exhaust gas pipe. CONSTITUTION:The flotation body 14 is constituted by combining three sheets of circular sheet members 16, made of heat resistant thin metal or the like and formed with a multitude of sawteeth-like protuberances 16 on the circumference thereof, and the weight thereof is a degree that it is floated by the exhaust gas while the size thereof is made larger than small holes formed on venting plates 7, 9. The exhaust gas enters from an exhaust gas inlet pipe 6, flows through the exhaust gas pipe 2 and is discharged out of an exhaust gas outlet pipe 8 while brine enters from a brine inlet pipe 11, flows through a duct section 10 and a fluid pipe 12, then, flows through a section enclosed by the exhaust gas pipe 2 and an outer tubular pipe 3 and, thereafter, is discharged out of a brine outlet pipe 13. The floatation bodies 14, accommodated in the exhaust gas pipe 2, are floated by the exhaust gas and collide against the outer surface of the fluid pipe 12, the outer surface of the duct section 10 or the inner surface of the exhaust gas pipe 2 while soot, adhered to and accumulated on the surfaces, is dropped by scraping by the protuberances 15 and is discharged to the outside of the heat exchanger together with the exhaust gas.
